THE HEALING POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

It was the first bible study I had gone to and once the congregation had settled down from their meet and greet on their Wednesday nights bible study, the pastor made the announcement that we wouldn't be having bible study tonight. Instead we have a special guest, who is a retired evangelist whom God had given a special gift of the Holy Spirit's healing power. See(Luke 4:18) 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,


Some music came on and I could feel an unknown presence come over the room, folks began to sing and praise God in strange languages. See> (1 Corinthians 14:6) 6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
“You've got to be kidding” I told myself. The music stopped, and the special guest addressed the congregation saying,
“Please all those who believe in the Holy Spirit's power and are sick, or in need of a healing, our Father God has blessed you with His power to heal those who believe through their faith In Him." I still today believe the healer was looking straight at me, because he knew I was an unbeliever, and he was right to think so.


He began to pray in a language unknown to me. He laid his hands-on people’s foreheads and they dropped one after another. My best friend who had persuaded me to come there told me that God was healing people. I told him, "only fools would believe these acts, they all work together, none of this means anything to me. I've seen plenty of these con jobs on TV."


I know sooner finished expressing my beliefs when a sudden rush of goose bumps ran up my arm. The church became still and quiet. The evangelist spoke out, "Who's the one here that don't believe?" The chills grew worse and my body weakened. How could he know I don't believe? Then guilt ran through my bones and into my darkened soul. 'I know your here the preacher stated,' so, come up to this alter and allow God's Holy Spirit make that devil flee from your soul." I gave myself a few seconds to think, as many of the bad things I'd done flashed through my mind. Suddenly that presence I'd felt around me had come back, but this time is was stronger than my stubbornness. I heard a man shout out to the preacher. “It is I who knows the truth about you sir, now I'm calling you out in front of these fools saying “show me your God and I'll follow Him the rest of my life.” Just then a man walked up to the alter who appeared drunk. Then the evangelist spoke loudly saying "In Jesus name I command you Satan to leave this man. The man fell to the floor twisting in seizures, twerking and squealing noises for everyone to hear.


Let me tell you folks, it all looked rehearsed and bad acting to my eyes. In a quick second, silence came about and the man was still, who now appeared to be dead. A lady ran to him shouting 'thank you Jesus' please someone help me pick Bubba Ray up, please!" this woman frantically cried out. Instantly an usher brightened the dimmed lights. Folks flocked all around this man called Bubba Ray as the evangelist laid his hands on him commanding, in the name of Jesus Christ for Satan to release this man’s soul and leave our presence. Those chills came over me but with a spiritual wonder I'd never felt in my life. Then as sudden as this man Bubba had dropped to the floor he stood and began shouting, 'Thank you Jesus for setting me free." Then the woman that ran down shouting thank you Jesus began to cry out in joy saying, 'He talked, he talked, oh my God, my boy can talk! The devil that's kept his mind shut has fled his body."
But what I heard was an actress doing her job. And Bubba spoke well for a man who has never talked.


My final thought
Has anyone ever felt God's Holy Spirit the way our character (1) felt it? If you haven’t, please let me tell you, the feeling overwhelms your body and soul so deeply that I’m unable to describe it. But when it happens to me, every time, I have never felt higher in my life. It wasn't a body high such as drugs will give someone. It was a spiritual high from our Father God, and when this occurs as it did for our character (1) in this story, a person will suddenly realize God’s existence. Please note: A lot of folks don’t always feel God, but that doesn't mean God is not real or active in their life. We must always remember that God will act anytime He feels it’s necessary when it comes to His children.

Dear Lord, we thank you for all the miracles your servants perform through the power of the Holy Spirit. And we ask you to bless them and keep them safe as they work in foreign countries day after day, risking their own lives all in the name of God. In your name Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
