What America’s Thinking
Seventy percent of likely U.S. voters say that politicians do not keep their campaign promises. 45% think President Trump has done better than most of his predecessors in this regard, which is up from 38% in March.
The percentage of Americans who say they are very or somewhat worried about Coronavirus has fluctuated according to how hysterically the media has covered the U.S. outbreak. Currently, that percentage is 69, down from 74% in early April.
Three-quarters of Americans believe that Russia or the government of another foreign country will attempt to interfere with the upcoming elections. Almost nine out of 10 Democrats or voters who lean Democrat think this likely, and 62% of Republicans or Republican-leaning voters agree.

Washington Whispers
The White House has signaled that it is prepared to veto a Democrat bill aimed at throwing more money at the United States Postal Service. House Democrats are seeking an additional $25 billion for the agency, which the Trump administration describes as a “bailout.”
President Trump is allegedly exerting pressure on Federal Trade Commission Chair Joseph Simons to take action against social media companies for censoring conservative opinion. The FTC is an independent agency, and the president is limited in how much influence over its decisions he can exert.
While addressing the 2020 Council for National Policy on August 21, President Trump shared his thoughts on the difference between his 2020 opponent and Hillary Clinton, who ran against him in 2016: “Clinton is much smarter, but not a likable person. Joe is not nearly as smart, but he is more likable. So, you know, I don’t know. Maybe I’d rather have the smarter person, who cares about personality, right?”
