Country music star Dolly Parton donated $1 million to help fund Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine. Parton made the donation to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, which was involved in the research. Among the agencies and universities listed as funding sources for the Moderna vaccine was “the Dolly Parton COVID-19 Research Fund,” which left some on social media joking about singing the refrain of her hit “Jolene” replaced with the word “vaccine.” Dolly said that she was "a very proud girl to know I had anything at all to do with something that's going to help us through this crazy pandemic."
