BMW’s iconic tagline "The Ultimate Driving Machine" is one of the most successful marketing campaigns in the automotive industry. BMW’s first use of the slogan dates back to 1973 and was created under the reign of Bob Lutz and a relatively unknown ad-agency, Ammirati & Puris. This was seen as a massive gamble at the time, but it eventually paid off. The slogan helped to increase sales and boost the BMW brand in North America. The Ultimate Driving Machine campaign ran for almost 40 years making it one of the oldest slogans in the industry

On February 9, 1942, “War Time”—a year-round daylight saving time—began in the United States. Passed by Congress and signed into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the year-round daylight saving time required that clocks be moved ahead one hour for the remainder of the war as a national defense measure to conserve energy.
