A 14-YEAR OLD'S COMMITMENT
Joslin was a young 14-year-old young lady who grew up in family that had been cursed by Satan for generations, cursed to live poverty-stricken lifestyles. Her father was a drunkard and her mother had always been hooked on her mother called, her ‘mother’s little helper pills’ that she knew was the dev-il’s pills. You see folks, Joslin had learned about Satan because every Sunday she would walk to church. A place that was so peaceful and folks were in the Spirit of God which fascinated her. It had been just short of a year when Joslin asked Jesus into her life, and during that year her faith and courage grew strong. She no longer feared the devils curse on her family and was determined to break the curse the devil had put on her family two generations ago. She learned how God would always be with her and felt His presence often, which assured her she no longer needed to fear Satan because her Father God went wherever she went. See> (Joshua 1:9) 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whitherso-ever thou goes.
Now at the age of 15 years young she was more determined to work, so that she and her family would be out of poverty. But when she turned 16 years old, the devil managed to put in her head to drop out of high school and work part time. Unfortunately, she listened to the devil, and began to work two part time jobs. One of the jobs was a cash job at the local drive-ins snack bar. Joslin worked hard and because she was, she received best employee of the month for five months running due to her ex-ceptionally hard work. Over that year her boss saw her great potential and made it a point how much of an asset she'd become for the company. Joslin's skills developed so much her boss asked her to be the assistant manager on Monday and Tuesday nights. Two weeks later the manager was fired for stealing company funds, and Joslin was asked immediately to be a manger in training, with the promise she'd work full time when she turned 18 which would be in five Months. She walked home that night feeling like she'd struck gold, and her young mind was making plans to move her folks and younger brothers out of their poverty struck drug infested neighborhood. She was a proud 17-year-old with a bright future ahead of her, and she was positive that her and her Lord Jesus Christ would soon be able to break the families curse Satan put on her bloodline just two generations ago. Joslin always prayed to her Father God every morning and evening, as well as a few times during the day since she’d been saved. It didn’t matter if she needed something because praying and giving God thanks, not only be-cause it was her Father God’s will, but also because it was her way to be assured Her Father would take care of her concerns. See> (1 Thessalonians 5:18)18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you
Satan wasn’t happy when Joslin accepted Christ into her life, because he had dark evil plans for her. And now Joslin ruined his plan to get her back because she took her commitment with God seriously. She studied and learned how to use her God given powers to defeat him every time. Joslin had no doubts God would shield and protect her when she was facing the devil’s attacks. Joslin’s young heart knew this because her faith was strong, in that God would shield her, because her Father God prom-ised her, He would. See> (Ephesians 6:16) 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Joslin couldn’t pull her family out of poverty right away, but through her faith and power in God, He lifted Satan’s curse. Somehow her boss got the idea to open three more drive ins and assigned Joslin to be his district manager with a yearly 10% bonus of the corporation profit. Joslin had just turned 19 years old. Her father sobered up and got a job working for His daughter. He never drank again, and her mother didn’t need to take anymore of her mother’s helper pills. Because as it turned out, she wasn’t taking them for the children, all along she'd been taking the, pills to help her deal with a drunkard hus-band. Now that her parents were both sober, they seen the power of God working in their daughter and went to church. Only a few weeks went by when they felt God’s Holy Spirit’s presence and saw the light and they both gave their lives and hearts to Christ; Joslin was twenty-four years old. And over the next six years, she took her 10% and saved it so she could invest in a partnership with her boss. She had just turned twenty-five years ‘young’ when she was a proud business owner.
My final thoughts
Joslin’s success story from rags to wealth shows us that when we are strong in faith and with God, He ‘will’ take away your fears and replace them with courage and we’ll never again need to be afraid. Not of Satan nor his evildoers, but rather Satan will fear God’s Children knowing their Father God will al-ways be with them, and He’ll NEVER-EVER forsake His children, amen. See> (Deuteronomy 31:6) 6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Let all of us pray together.
God, we come to You this morning in faith that if one of us has needs, You are all they’ll need, and all we need to do is pray and trust in our faith that You will hear our concerns, and act on their behalf. In Your Son Jesus Christ we all do pray, amen.
