Has Senator Cruz Found the Solution to Fund the Border Wall?

  • "Fourteen billion dollars will go a long way toward building a wall that will keep Americans safe and hinder the illegal flow of drugs, weapons, and individuals across our southern border." – Senator Ted Cruz

In a brilliant example of poetic justice, this week Texas Senator Ted Cruz has introduced the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order Act, aka EL CHAPO. This act proposes that the ill-gotten fortune of Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera and other drug lords should be seized and used to fund President Trump’s border wall. The United States government is seeking the criminal forfeiture of over $14 billion in the El Chapo case alone. Including funds seized in other trials could easily fund the wall.

Shocking details are coming out during the ongoing trial of Mexican drug lord El Chapo Guzman, and an associate of his has testified that he personally delivered at least $10 million in cash to a bank in Mexico City every month. El Chapo was known for his excesses, which included everything from lavish mansions to private jets to a menagerie of exotic animals. His wife, beauty queen Emma Coronel Aispuro, continues to live a lavish lifestyle despite his imprisonment, and the couple’s twin daughters are privileged American citizens.

Prosecutors are claiming the kingpin earned an astounding $14.8 billion as a direct result of his criminal activities, yet so far Mexican authorities are claiming they haven’t recovered a cent of it. So where is the rest of El Chapo’s money? His wife and his anchor babies know, and it’s time to demand answers. We need to fund the wall, and now. If Senator Cruz’s EL CHAPO Act passes, he may end up being known as one of the men who saved America’s future—alongside President Trump!
