Today roughly fifty percent of all men crossing into the Rio Grande Sector have a child with them.
That child is a Get Out Of Jail card.
A growing problem we see is fraudulent family units.
Roughly thirty percent of those "family units" were fraudulent as shown by DNA testing.
We hear about children being rented to those crossing illegally.
Nobody who is compassionate, nobody who gives a damn about human beings would want for even a single day to perpetuate these loopholes and put more children in harm's way.
We ought to be angry at politicians who wash their hands of this problem.
What I am hearing in South Texas is that this is a crisis that is overwhelming our ability to deal with it.
It is overwhelming our infrastructure, our health care system.
Just here in the Rio Grande Valley, Chief told me that on average, one woman a day they're taking to the hospital to deliver a baby.
I have visited with too many south Texas ranchers and farmers who have found the bodies of people abandoned, pregnant women and children abandoned to die.
Border Patrol spends sixty percent of their effort caring for illegal migrants.
That means these men and women are not able to do border law enforcement.
What do you do with one hundred forty four thousand people with little children?
It is not humane to subject little children to these conditions.
The most important piece to stop this crisis is to stop Catch And Release.
We need to end that.
We know we can solve this problem.
