All in the name of “longevity”, huh? 🤔
Apeel (a Bill Gates backed company) products have been creeping into stores lately. They created a coating for certain produce (in this case, avocados) that "helps the produce you love stay fresher for longer.”
It is a powder coating that dissolves in water and is "plant based”.
What the heck is it? According to their website, Apeel is made from purified mono- and diglycerides. These are commonly used as food additives in processed foods as emulsifiers. These artificial additives are awful for your health, and now they’re being added to the outside of certain produce. 🥴 Approved for both organic and non-organic, the produce will be labeled with an ‘Apeel’ sticker.

My husband and I were at Target the other night and I grabbed an avocado for dinner… I carried it in my hands for about 15 minutes while we walked around, and it wasn’t until I felt a funny coating on my hands that I looked at the sticker. ~ ‘Apeel’ ~ I put that thing back so quick and went straight to the bathroom to wash my hands. 😵💫 Absolutely not!

Personally, I don't think Bill
Gates should be getting his dirty
