Judge Joel Cohen’s has allowed New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit against the National Rifle Association (NRA) to move forward in state court in Manhattan, rather than dismissing it on technical grounds or moving it to federal court. Her lawsuit seeks the NRA’s dissolution under state nonprofit law over claims that top executives illegally diverted tens of millions of dollars for trips, no-show contracts and other expenditures.

On Friday, the NRA filed for bankruptcy as well as a change in venue citing it wanted to break free of a corrupt political and regulatory environment in an effort to restructure the organization and move to Texas where 400,000 of its members are located. In seeking to dismiss or move the state’s lawsuit to federal court, NRA lawyer Sarah Rogers argued that many of its misspending and self-dealing allegations were also contained in pending lawsuits in federal court — a slate of cases she described as a “tangled nest of litigation.” However the judge contends that the AG filed her lawsuit first. Looks like an inevitable repeal, but the case probably won't be heard until 2022; much can happen by then. 🤞🏻
The NRA is rich in 2nd Amendment history and has been incorporated in New York since 1871 (the same year our rights were sold to the Vatican, and DC became a CORPORATION) . 🙁
I still think NRA was infiltrated by 
whose objective was to destroy the NRA; for one, CEO Wayne LaPierre whose compensation rose by 57% in 2018, the most recent year for which tax filings are available; $2.15 million. Somebody saw the gravy train while under a Trump administration, but got too greedy and careless when they should have been focused on Leftists who were out to get the organization. Too bad the NRA stakeholders didn't put much thought into their future and made sure their organization was bulletproof.
