HOW OFTEN SHOULD WE NEED TO ASK FORGIVENESS?

Wow, that is an often-asked question isn’t it? “How often do we need to ask forgiveness?” The answer is simple, we should pray for forgiveness as The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, Once we are aware of the sin we can trust in faith that Jesus Christ is God’s Son, thus He alone can forgive the sins of man. See> (Colossians 1:14) 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: … This verse tells us that anyone of God’s people who come to His Son Jesus Christ knowing and believing he is the Son of God, can confess their sins to Jesus Christ and be forgiven. See> (John 14:6) 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. This means anyone folks. See> (1 John 1:9) 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ... When our Lord forgives us, He forgives all our sins. Therefore, we do not need to constantly ask for forgiveness to acquire all our sins to be forgiven.

My Final thoughts
Does this mean Christians do not always need to ask for forgiveness? Not all the time but they do need to ask for forgiveness. Remember Jesus paid the penalty for our sins when He sacrificed his life. Once we have been forgiven, all our sins have been forgiven, past, present, and future. Refer to> (Colossians 1:14) However, this does not mean we can knowingly carry on sinning because if we do, we are breaking our Father God’s laws, and that is a sin. See> (1 John 3:4) Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. … Personally, I seek forgiveness more often than not, and for good reasons. I simply want my spiritual being to be as pure from sin as my Lord can possibly keep me when I die. Why? Because after I die, I will have no more chances to ensure my soul makes it to Heaven, and that works for me. Amen.

Let us pray together
Lord, we admit that we do not always remember to ask for forgiveness after every sin, and it is good to know that we do not need to all the time, so long as we do seek your forgiveness. So, we ask your help in identifying our sins and remembering to ask you Lord, to forgive our sins. And for this Lord, we are all forever grateful. In your name Jesus Christ, we all pray amen.

May we all walk under our Lord and Savior's guidance. Rev James Erick
